As a result, most people don’t take the time to create their business plan or schedule remote appointments with customers or vendors. Instead, they rely on email for communication and forget about meeting face-to-face again until it’s too late. If you’re struggling with getting your business going again, don’t give up! There are ways you can boost your business from within without hiring an outside consultant or paying someone on hourly rate just yet. Set up meetings ahead of time

People are busy, but that doesn’t mean they can’t meet with you. If someone from your company recently has time to meet with a vendor, ask them if they’d be willing to set up a quick meeting to discuss your needs. If you have someone in your company who is always busy and has no time for you, ask them to set up a meeting for you. There’s no such thing as bad time to set up a meeting, even if it’s at the end of the day, because you never know when a meeting might come in handy. Don’t wait until the last minute to set up meetings. There’s no use in rushing them, because they’re only useful if they’re set up ahead of time. Be diligent in scheduling your meetings, because they’re often the only chance you’ll have to meet with people, so don’t let it get away.

Plan your day better

The more you plan for your day, the more likely you are to be productive. If you always have a meeting or appointment scheduled ahead of time, you’re more likely to be ready for it. There’s also a chance you’ll have a better chance of staying on-task, because you’ve already committed your time to something. When you spend less time in the planning phases of business, you’re more likely to actually get things done. Plan your day better by jotting down things you need to accomplish so you don’t have to spend time trying to remember what it was you were doing. There are apps that help you save your to-do list, so you don’t have to write them down on a piece of paper and lose them. Instead, you can create a list on your phone that you can access anytime you need to find something you wrote down.

Stay on top of email at all times

There’s likely no feature in your email program that allows you to see what’s coming, but you can do so manually. If you’re in Outlook, click on the “All Email” tab at the top of the screen. Or, in your Gmail or Yahoo inbox, click “All Mail” from the top menu. From there, you have the option to “Show Unread Emails.” Now, when you get emails in your inbox, you can mark them as read, so you don’t have to read all of them immediately. If you have an email program like Gmail or Outlook that allows you to create filters like “If it’s not important, don’t read it,” use them. You should also create filters for your email program to help you stay on top of what’s going on in your business.

Use a calendar for everything

We’ve all been in the situation where we’re booked solid, but we still need to meet with a client. Sometimes, when it’s that busy, you might have to set up an appointment two weeks out. However, you still need to meet with them that day. How can you do both? Use your calendar. Set up your calendar so that you have room on it for everything. If you want to add a few more days to the calendar, do it now. Also, click on the “Calendars” tab and make sure all of your calendars are set up correctly. You should see the name of the person or company you’re scheduled to meet with, as well as the time. You should also have an option to mark off all of your calendar appointments, so you don’t have to worry about conflicting dates. This way, you’re never scrambling for time when you’re busy.

Invite people to your own events

If you’re hosting events or dinners, invite your customers and vendors to attend them. It shows them that you trust them and know their business better than they know themselves. Hosting your own events and dinners can be great ways to boost business. However, you have to be careful with them. If you book too many events, you’ll get very little attendance, and those that do show up won’t have any incentive to spend money on your company. Mix it up with the types of events you host. For example, don’t let every event be a dinner at a fancy restaurant. Instead, switch it up and host an event at a convention center or ballgame. You’ll get a wide variety of people in attendance and have the opportunity to meet new people.

Don’t be afraid to take risks with new vendors and partners
