Preparing to Apply

Meet the basic requirements.

Age requirement varies by jurisdiction. In most states and individual departments, the minimum age for recruitment is 21.

In some states and police departments, the minimum age may be lower to 18, 19, or 20.

The maximum age varies by the police department.

However special exemptions may be made for veterans who served in the US military forces for a minimum of 2 years and have been honorable discharged.
